World Obesity Day 2026 , the theme for this year is " 8 Billion reasons to act on obesity" Together we can change the story.

By 2035, about 4 billion people (half of the world’s population) are expected to live with overweight or obesity.

The gist of WHO on World Obesity Day :

Rising Global Burden: By 2035, about 4 billion people (half of the world’s population) are expected to live with overweight or obesity.

Childhood Obesity Increasing: Rates of obesity among school-aged children have increased nearly fivefold since 1975, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Long-term Health Risks: Childhood obesity often continues into adulthood and increases the risk of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.

Social and Environmental Factors: Obesity is influenced by poverty, stigma, unequal access to education and healthcare, limited healthy food availability, and unhealthy living environments. Need for Collective Action: World Obesity Day 2026 calls for understanding obesity without stigma, prioritizing early prevention, and ensuring equitable access to care to change the global trend.
